All these walks are graded as harder/challenging. They are 6 or more miles in length and last 3+ hours so bring a packed lunch. The walks cross rough ground which is sometimes muddy so walking boots are needed. The walks will include inclines (some steep), often go over stiles and require a good level of fitness.

19th January
A 5.6
mile morning walk with a total ascent of 1455 ft (440 m) from the top of the Horseshoe

A 7.8
mile bus walk with a total ascent of 1765 ft (540 m) from Glyndyfrdwy over
Vivod Mountain to Llangollen.
Meet at 8.45
in King Street Bus Station in Wrexham to catch the 9.00 Barmouth bus to
Glyndyfrdwy. The bus can also be picked up
en route in Llangollen. No dogs please.

16th March
A 6 mile morning
walk with a total ascent of 1400 ft (425 m) from Glyn Ceiriog up to Biddulph Tower at the top of Y Foel.
Meet at 9.45
for a 10.00 start at the Ceiriog Centre on the B4500 (New Road ) in the village (LL20 7HE Grid ref SJ 204379 /// mergers.alpha.rooms). No dogs please.

20th April
A testing
10.14 mile walk with a total ascent of 2820 ft (860 m) from Llantysilio Green
over Velvet Hill up to the Ponderosa and then over Moel y Faen.
Meet at 9.45 for a 10.00 start in the P+D car park (LL20 8BN Grid ref SJ 198433 /// fuzz.hero.disengage). No dogs please.
Directions - Take the A542 west (Abbey Road ) out of Llangollen towards the Horseshoe Pass. Go past the International Eisteddfod ground, then about ¼ mile after the Motor Museum, turn left on to the B5103 towards Rhewl, Llantysilio and Horseshoe Falls. Go straight on past the left turns for the Chainbridge Hotel and for Corwen. About 100 metres further along on the left is the car park (pay and display but free for National Trust members).

A circular
9.6 mile walk with a total ascent of 2270 ft (690 m) from Chirk to
Pontfadog.
Meet at
9.45 for a 10.00 start in the car park behind The Hand Hotel (LL14 5ET Grid ref SJ 291378 /// duplicate.playback.neatly). No dogs please.
Directions - Coming into Chirk from Wrexham
along the B5070, drive past the Co-op, Kronospan and Chirk Court . Then just past the Stanton House Inn (on the
left) and about 100 metres before the War Memorial and road to the station and
Chirk Castle, turn left into Colliery Road (signposted Car Park and Toilets)
and then after 100 metres, turn right into Pwll Y Waun and into the car park.

A circular
5 mile walk with a total ascent of 1650 ft (500 m) from Llangynog in the
Tanat valley north-east towards Y Clogydd.
Meet at
9.45 for a 10.00 start in the car park on the B4391 (Berwyn Street ) in the centre of the
village (SY10 0ES Grid ref SJ 054262 /// invented.deranged.photos). No dogs please.
Directions - From
Wrexham, take the A483 (to Oswestry), then the A5. Turn off the A5 on the Oswestry by-pass on to
the A483 (signposted Welshpool). Then
about 3 miles further south, turn right at the Lynclys Crossroads (by the White
Lion Pub) on to the A495. After about 2
miles continue straight on along the B4396 for about 10 miles to
Penybontfawr. Here, bear right on to the
B4391 for about 3 miles into Llangynog.
